Autumn 1 Week 2
16.9.23
Thank you for another exciting and positive week Kestrels!
It is lovely to see the children settled in and back into the swing of school life properly this week.
Highlights of this week include:
Delving deeper into the events which took place during The Great Fire of London. Kestrels were split into four groups where they were given a certain event which happened during this time. They then had to act out the scene as a group, we then performed these to Falcons' class! Everybody put all their effort into this, solidifying their knowledge of what happened, and it was great to see some brilliant acting skills!
We discussed how important it is to protect Gods creation by having class discussions and then actively seeing how it feels when something we have created gets destroyed. We did this through spending time creating something out of play dough, through care and thought, to then destroying it. Children said that this made them feel sad, angry and disappointed, which is how we think God would feel if we didn't protect the world we live in and ourselves.
Kestrels have been working hard each day practising their place value and being able to flexibly partition numbers up to 100. It is lovely to see the children's confidence build up every day, and I am impressed at all of their genuine interest for learning!
Star of the week: Dulcie Chaplin - for always contributing confidently in class!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and will see you next week!
