Autumn 1 Week 2

This week we have been enjoying digging deeper into our year 4 learning!

In maths this week we have been continuing to look at place value. We have used number lines and lots of imagery to consolidate our understanding.

In English this week we have been focusing on diaries. We have learnt about diary features and will be continuing this next week. We loved hearing more about Tranio from 'Escape from Pompeii' and hope to use this to inspire our own diary writing.

In History, we have loved learning more about the Romans and have learnt all about what Britain was like before the Romans invaded. The Iron Age and the Celts got us thinking about whether it will be a positive move for Britain when the Romans invade! We enjoyed learning all about the Celts and the Iron Age and then did some drama 'hot seating' to ask Celts about what life was like back then! Thank you to Celt Chloe, Sam, Rowan and Phoebe for being our knowledgeable Celtic Brits in History!

Our swimming lessons and gymnastics are well under way and Hawks behaviour and manners at swimming lessons has been outstanding. Well done Hawks! We have loved using our bodies to make different shapes in gymnastics and learnt all about tension which allows us to hold these positions.

Star of the week:

This week our star is... Jacob! Jacob has shown great determination and positivity at swimming this week! Well done Jacob :).

Reminders for next week:

- PE days are Wednesday (swimming) and Friday.

- Please bring in reading records each day and read 5x per week at home.

- Home learning is sent out each Friday in home learning folders. Their new spellings for the next week will be written on the bottom of that weeks completed sheet. Maths home learning is practising times tables races which can be found on the home learning section of our class page. Reading 5x per week is also classed as home learning.

Have a nice weekend :).
