Autumn 2 Week 5
Happy 1st December!
This week has been exciting as we have been practising lots for the nativity, and we had the Santa fun run too!
The weather has made it feel very wintery and the children loved showing off their Santa hats today at the fun run. We have managed to raise lots of money from donations towards Christmas hats this week and the children excelled when it came to running! They also enjoyed a warm hot chocolate and a delicious chocolate brownie at the end of the run...(That was my favourite part!)
We have also been learning lots even though we have been busy practising the nativity. The children have learnt how to properly use 100 squares this week and have been practising how to find 10 more and 10 less, subtracting 2 two-digit numbers from each other and subtracting from a 10! The more we practice, the better we get. The children work well together and enjoy helping one another when needed.
In PSHE, the children had conversations about why people might bully others. To show that we are all friends and care about each other, the children had to get into groups and come up with a dance where everyone in the group was needed in order for them to work. They then performed these to the rest of the class to the song 'Roar' by Katy Perry. These were brilliant, and it showed the children that we all bring something different and special to the class to make it what it is.
Finally, we worked really hard to write out our final stories based on the Great Fire of London. We carefully used our planning and knowledge of the structure of a narrative to write these. Ask your children what their story was about and how they described their characters and settings.
Star of the week: Izzy! Well done Izzy, you tried extra hard and had outstanding concentration when writing your narrative hot write this week.
Reminders:
The weather is getting colder and the children will need coats in order to go outside at break and lunchtime!
Please can all the costumes for the nativity be in before next Friday.
Children have been given homework. Please can we make sure that the children are completing this, and it is coming back in to be marked. We had a disappointing number that didn't return their homework as well as not reading 5 times a week. This is very important.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Hamilton :)
