Spring 1 Week 1
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. It has been a delight to welcome the children back to school these past two days.
We created self-portraits following multiple-step instructions which included making a background, using a mirror to consider what features we would need to include in our pen drawing and writing our name. We then cut out our portraits and stuck them to the background. We also practised our scissor skills on our cutting tuff tray - where there were lots of different types of card, paper and bubble wrap to be cut, some with tricky lines to follow!
In the role play area, the children we dressing up as different people who help us - already we have had a doctor's surgery, a police station, a cleaners, an office and a travel agents!
We played lots of different games to recap our phonics learning from Autumn term and began putting CVC words into short sentences!
In maths, we began our topic on measuring. The children used rulers and cubes to measure an items height or length, and scales to measure it's weight. They used whiteboards and pens to write down the measurements and began finding the longest or shortest objects. This will be continued into the following weeks.
PE days for this term have changed and are now Monday and Tuesday. Children will need PE kit suitable for inside. PE this term is dance and yoga! There are no Welly Walks this term.
Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you next week for our first full week back!
