First week back completed! 6.9.24
Kestrels have had a super first week in year 2!
We have been settling into school routines, refreshing our minds on the school values and promises and helping Miss Knapp find her feet at By Brook Valley.
In English, we wrote about our summer holidays and have recapped key objectives from year 1. We have been focusing on the /ae/ sound with different spellings in our Sounds Write Phonic lessons and have been amazed at how many different ways the /ae/ sound is spelt! We have also loved starting our class reading for pleasure book ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ by A.A. Milne.
In Maths, we started our unit on place value and have focused on recognising 10s and 1s and counting objects in 10s to 100.
In PE, we enjoyed our very first dance session. We are very excited about this as we are creating a dance ready for our dance festival.
We have also created beautiful prayers this week for our class prayer book. We created morning prayers, lunchtime prayers, and end of the day prayers.
Reminders:
- PE days are Monday and Wednesday.
- Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home.
- Spellings will come home every week starting next week. Please practice these every day at home, ready for our spelling test on Fridays.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Miss Knapp
