Week 4! 27.9.24
We loved taking part in European Day of Languages this week!
Kestrels were ‘Hungarian’ for the day, and we learnt how to say Hello in Hungarian and lots of key facts and information about Hungary. We created silhouette artwork of Buba Castle and used the colour of the flag to create our art.
We loved the visitors we had throughout the day that taught us greetings, animals and food names. We learnt some in French, Spanish and German! Kestrels loved learning the different animal names and seeing ones that sounded similar to English or very different to English.
In English, we created our own alien and wrote expanded noun phrases ready for when we wrote our own version of a lost alien on earth. We planned out our narrative, making sure we noted down key points we wanted to write about and key vocabulary that would help us. We have then spent Thursday and Friday writing and editing our narrative, making sure we have included everything in our checklist. Miss Knapp is very excited to read all of Kestrels narratives!
In Maths, we have been counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s this week! We have been counting forwards and backwards and solving problems involving this week's learning.
We have enjoyed our Geography lesson this week looking at ‘Where is our school?’ We looked at different maps and located Yatton Keynell and then looked for our school. Then we looked at the different symbols you can get on a map and located different ones on our maps to see what they meant. The children loved finding different things – a favourite was a duck which was a nature reserve.
Reminders:
- PE days are Monday and Wednesday.
- Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home. Remember an adult needs to sign the reading records.
- Spellings will come home on Monday. Please practice these every day at home ready for our spelling test on Fridays.
Have a wonderful weekend!
