Autumn Term 1 Week 6
Say hello to yellow!
This week we had mental health awareness day. The children had conversations about why it is important that we have good mental health. The children all came in to school in yellow to celebrate this. We took part in some activities that help our minds and allow us to be in a positive, calm environment. We did some yoga, mindfulness colouring, water painting outside, wrote about what makes us happy and finally, we had a sing-along to our favourite songs to end our day!
The children have started our new maths unit: addition and subtraction. To start this off, we have been getting used to the terminology part, part and whole. We used concrete materials to solidify this new knowledge.
The children finished their English unit on Beegu. They created some brilliant Lost posters, thought about characters' feelings on the playground and compared them to their own experiences, as well as writing speech bubbles to show a characters' feelings through speech!
Well done to KS1 and reception for a brilliant harvest service! It was lovely to see so many family and friends support, I was very proud of everyone for being so brave and confident!
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Hamilton :)
