Term 4, Week 3! 14.03.25

In English, we have continued to look at diary writing and different grammar we can include. We looked at the past progressive tense and how that is formed. We then looked at time conjunctions to help us structure our diary. We are excited to write our diaries about our trip to the Bristol Zoo Project next week.

Our fraction knowledge has continued to grow this week! We looked at what a third is and how to find a third of amounts. We also looked at unit fractions and non-unit fractions. The children were really great at using mathematical vocabulary to explain the difference between a unit fraction and a non-unit fraction.

In computing, we collected data about our favourite colour and created a pictogram. We then collected data about how the staff travel to school. We used our knowledge of pictograms and were able to enter this data on an iPad to create a pictogram.

We had our first Forest School session of the year with Mr Summers, and we absolutely loved being outside using nature to learn and explore. We walked/ran to find the first signs of spring, tried to find something that linked with our names - Phoebe found a pinecone, George said all the ground - and we made our very own bug hotels with what we could find in the forest area. We ended our session by roasting marshmallows on the fire, which was delicious!

We did our taste testing in DT today to find the combinations of food we wanted to use in our wraps. We were given the brief to create a wrap that includes protein, fruit/veg and dairy. We had egg, hummus, cucumber, pepper, spring onion, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and soft cheese. We tried many different combinations and the children were really brave trying foods they were not sure about.
