Autumn 2 Week 2

This week we have been learning all about area and measuring the area that a 2d shape takes us. We got onto comparing area and created our own shapes using a certain amount of area. In English we have been focusing on our narrative writing and how we can add to our story telling through description. We have been using similes and hyperbole to add to our descriptive writing.

On Wednesday we enjoyed visiting Year 5 and 6's Science Fair! We learnt lots about reactive metals and the experiments they did in their lessons! We are excited that next year, we will get to do the Science Fair!

Anti-Bullying Week at By Brook Valley:

This week for Anti-Bullying week our slogan was 'Choose Respect'. We had an assembly to kickstart our week and remind us of what our focus was. We have been doing lots of PSHE activities about Anti-bullying, to ensure that we understand what bullying is and what to do if it happens at school.

Children in Need:

This week we helped raise awareness for Children in Need on Friday. We all wore our PJs to school and created our own Children in Need posters to take home to help spread awareness.

British Values at BBV:

Each week in Hawks we focus on one of our British Values to ensure that we really know what they are and how to demonstrate them. This week our focus has been on Respect! It linked very nicely with our Anti-Bullying focus and we spoke a lot about having respect for others and ourselves. We decided that everyone deserves respect and that we choose respect at By Brook Valley. Star of the week:

Our star of the week this week is ... Archie! Archie is always so kind, cheery, friendly and is a very hard worker! Well done Archie! You are a star!

Reminders for next week:

- PE days are Tuesday and Friday.

- Please bring in reading records each day and read 5x per week at home.

- Home learning is sent out each Friday. Please check bags for this!

- Scripts need to be brought in each day please!

- Next Thursday afternoon is our first Forest School sessions with Mr Summers. You will need to wear warm clothes as we will be outside no matter the weather.

Have a nice weekend :).
