Spring 2 Weeks 3 & 4

Hawks class have had a very busy couple of weeks!

We have been putting in a lot of effort and focus into our non-chronological report writing and are excited to write our final reports all about the Ancient Egyptians. We have been focusing on our sentence structure, conjunctions and how to form a paragraph in a report.

In maths, we have loved learning about fractions! We have explored mixed numbers and improper fractions and have been able to convert the two.  We will be looking at equivalent fractions and adding fractions next week.

In History, we have been digging deeper into our Ancient Egyptian learning. Learning all about hieroglyphics and pyramids. We have also been focusing on lots of PSHE areas of learning to ensure that we are making the best choices for ourselves and those around us in the classroom.

Y4 Class Assembly

Last week we enjoyed sharing our learning in our Year 4 class assembly. Thank you to those parents and relatives who came to see us.

Maths Day and Red Nose Day

We had a very busy Friday today! Not only was it red nose day for comic relief, where we wore something red, but it has also been our By Brook Valley Maths day! We spent lots of time completing maths based activities in class and Key Stage 2 even got to experience a maths escape room activitiy! We had such a great time applying maths to different problems and even made some maths art!

Reading at home:

This week I have emailed some families about the lack of reading evident in reading records. Although the children are able to read independently, it is still very important to read to an adult. Please make sure that this is logged in their reading records to show that this part of the home learning is being achieved at home.

Things to remember:

  • Next Tuesday is school class photo day.
  • Please bring in water bottles and reading records each week.
  • Home learning is coming home today. Please check bags for this.

Have a lovely weekend!
