Autumn 1 Week 5
We had a visitor!
Thank you for another great week, Kestrels!
Highlights of the week:
We have had an eventful week, full of exciting events! We had been practising so hard for the Harvest festival which took place on Thursday morning and the children all did so well with their singing and their class poem. I am sure you are all very proud! It was lovely to see lots of parents and loved ones supporting the children. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Thank you for all of your food donations. These are being dropped off in the next week!
The children are experts at the Great Fire of London now, and we enjoyed showing off our knowledge through a quiz as well as having a chance to paint a picture or express our knowledge a different way in our lesson this week.
Kestrels had an interesting computing lesson where they had a chance to explore a laptop. They were able to identify different parts of a computer and then, using the tools on the computer, they drew these.
In maths, we finished our place value unit by starting to look at the 3 times tables.
We had a special visitor today! Mrs Leach joined us this afternoon and kindly read her latest children's book to Kestrels! The children were all fascinated by such a relatable and thought-provoking book. Thank you, Mrs Leach!
Star of the Week is Lily! Well done Lily, you are always concentrating and curious to ask questions in every lesson!
Homework: I have sent home the spellings for this week. Please practice these every day! Instead of a maths sheet, I have asked the children to explore and try out Times Tables Rock Stars. The link is Times Tables Rock Stars – Times Tables Rock Stars (ttrockstars.com) if needed. The children have a user and password that are stuck inside the front cover of their reading records! Please also make sure you are reading at least 5 times a week. Kestrels had a great week this week and nearly everyone read 5 times! Mrs Henshall was very impressed!
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Hamilton :)
