Autumn 2 Week 1
Welcome back Kestrels!
We have had a busy few days back in Kestrels class! It has been lovely seeing the children back at school after half-term.
Highlights of the week:
In English this week we have been super editors and learnt how to properly edit our writing. We enjoyed finding how to spell words using a dictionary as well as making our writing even better with different punctuation!
The children were scientists and went on an investigative walk to find different materials around the classroom and outside. We then put these into categories - ask your child what transparent and opaque means! The children were fully immersed in this lesson and worked well in pairs when they had to be scientists.
We have started looking at Tudor houses from 1666 in Art. We found out that they were made of wood and clay and that they look very different to how our own houses look. We looked at different Tudor houses and then drew our own. The children used rulers to make sure their lines were extra straight and added detail in the windows, doors and on the front of their house.
Please make sure you are reading with your child at least 5 times a week! I have been very impressed with all the reading that has been done over the half-term. Homework this week is spellings and times tables rockstarts as usual, as well as a maths sheet which the children have taken home.
I have a lot of jumpers and cardigans in the classroom with no names on and not being claimed! Please check and label your child's uniform just so it doesn't get lost!
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Hamilton :)
