Autumn Term 2 Week 6
We met Firefighters!
What a busy week we have had in Kestrels!
Amongst lots of Nativity rehearsals, we have been busy building our Tudor houses, learning about the Christmas story as well as meeting real firefighters!
The children have used their designs to make their Tudor houses this week. They covered their cereal boxes in white paper, then drew their design of their house on with pencil. After that, they covered their roofs with straw because that is what the roofs were made out of in 1666! They then stuck black pieces of paper to create their unique design and finished with a black pen for the detail! The children did very well at this and used skills they had learnt previously to help them complete these fantastic houses!
The cheeky elf has been in our classroom this week on the lookout for kindness and good behaviour to report back to Father Christmas! He has also left us a few surprises each morning!
In RE this week we have been continuing with the Christmas story. The children were able to think about a character that they really wanted to ask a question to! We then made our characters out of playdough and then wrote our questions in our books! We had Joseph, Angel Gabriel and even a Donkey!
Finally, today we had some special visitors who kindly came to talk to KS1. These were firefighters! The children were able to ask them questions about their job and even got to tell the firefighters all about the Great Fire of London! After that, the children got to go on a special tour of the fire engine and learn about all the different tools they use. They even got to sit in it!
Reminders:
Please can I ask that your child reads at least 5 times a week. It is a requirement throughout the whole school that this must happen, and it will really help your child improve! Even just 5 minutes is enough!
The children have their Nativity performances next Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning and afternoon! They did so well in their dress rehearsal today!
The children had their end of term reports sent home with them today.
A reminder that it is Christmas lunch next Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Hamilton :)
