Spring Term 1 Week 3
Week 3!
It has been a busy week with a lot of learning from Ketsrels!
In PE, the children have been doing tag rugby and Yoga. I have the pleasure of joining their yoga session, and I was very impressed with their flexibility! The children were able to try out and practice the 'rainbow stretch'.
In English, we have carried on with our poetic writing and used our facts to help. We have been able to use rhyming, repetition and alliteration! The children have planned and edited their sentences and are ready to write these up next week!
Kestrels will do their final poetic sentences on their beautiful paintings which they did today. We took inspiration from the book 'Once upon a Raindrop' and its captivating watercolour pictures to produce our own. I was blown away at the children's concentration and enthusiasm for this, and it paid off as they all looked fabulous!
In maths, we have started a new topic about shapes. The children are able to recognise the difference between 2D and 3D shapes, count vertices and sides and even recognise and draw lines of symmetry! We had a lot of fun finding lines of symmetry on 2D shapes with mirrors!
In RE this week we have been talking about commitment and what that means. The children shared their own commitments and how they feel about them. For example, 'Getting better at backstroke' and 'going to football every week'. The children were able to answer questions in their books and drew a lovely picture to show us what their commitment is.
On Friday 26th January, the Eco Warriors and Miss Slaney are having a second-hand uniform sale for the rest of the school. If you have any uniform you would be able to donate, that would be greatly appreciated. This would need to be in to Miss Slaney by Wednesday 24th clean and in a decent state.
The children have been given a handwriting task, along with spellings and a grammar sheet to complete for this week's homework. Please make sure homework folders are back in on Thursday along with reading records on a Friday.
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Hamilton :)
