Term 2 Week 1! 08.11.24

A wonderful start to term 2!

This week we were lucky enough to have a very special visitor come to school! We were very excited to welcome Kirsty Way, a GBR Double Mini Trampolinist and world champion, to explain all about her achievements and accomplishments. We loved seeing the videos of her competing/training and all her medals and stories. We were very inspired by Kirsty and her career and even got to complete some circuits with her as a class which we were sponsored for. As a school we raised a total of £883! Well done everyone!

In English, we have had a grammar and spelling focus this week. For one of the lessons this week, we looked at compound words and how they are two separate words that are joined together to create a brand new word that often has a new meaning.

In geography, we have continued to think about our key questions - Where in the world are we? This week, we explored 'What is a country?' We found out that a country is a distinct territory with its own government and way of life and that there are 195 countries in the world, according to the United Nations. Kestrels tried to name them all, but it was challenging! We gave it a good go and could name 26 countries in the world!

Reminders:

  • PE days are Monday and Wednesday.
  • Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home. Remember an adult needs to sign the reading records.
  • Spellings will come home on Monday. Please practice these every day at home ready for our spelling test on Fridays.

Have a wonderful weekend!
