Term 2, Week 2. 15.11.24

What a jam-packed week we have had this week!

This week for Anti-Bullying week, the theme was 'Choose Respect'. We had an assembly to kickstart our week and remind us of what our focus was. We have been doing lots of PSHE activities about Anti-bullying, to ensure that we understand what bullying is and what to do if it happens at school.

We also linked our Online Safety lessons in Computing to Anti-Bullying and we focused on Online Bullying and what this can look like. We looked at definitions of bullying and discussed different scenarios and what we would do if we were the person(s). We then created supportive sunflowers and named adults that we can go to if we need support.

Another important event that we supported was Remembrance Day. We reminded ourselves why we have Remembrance Day and the significance of the 2-minute silence. We also created poppy art with tissue paper.

On Wednesday we enjoyed visiting Year 5 and 6's Science Fair! We learnt lots about reactive metals and the experiments they did in their lessons!

In our Science lesson this week, we explored the question “How can you change the shape of a solid object?” We looked at why and how you would squash, bend, twist and stretch a solid object. We used playdough to have a go at squashing, bending, twisting and stretching!

We finished our unit on addition and subtraction this week. We looked at mixed addition and subtraction problems and missing number problems. We had to make sure we read the questions carefully to make sure we understood what it was asking us to do as sometimes we thought it was an addition problem, but when we read it again, we realised we had to do some subtraction too!

Our week ended with celebrating and raising money for Children in Need. We came to school in our pyjamas to help raise money for this great cause.

Reminders:

  • PE days are Monday and Wednesday.
  • Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home. Remember an adult needs to sign the reading records.
  • Spellings will come home on Monday. Please practice these every day at home ready for our spelling test on Fridays.

Have a wonderful weekend!
