Term 3, Week 5! 07.02.25

Children's Mental Health Week
In English, we have started to look at report writing, and we have decided to plan and write a report all about Queen Victoria! We have recapped all the different features reports have, like heading, subheadings, bullet points, topical language and images.
We have continued looking at 2D and 3D shapes in maths. We investigated sorting different 2D shapes into different categories using our developing shape knowledge. We then moved onto 3D shapes, named them and looked at how many faces they each have.
In Science, we started looking at life cycles of animals and focused on the life cycle of a chicken! The children loved watching a video of a chick breaking out of its shell. Next week we will look at the human life cycle and compare it to a chicken’s life cycle.
We have promoted and celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week throughout the week. The children loved thinking about all the emotion characters from Inside Out and how if we take notice of ourselves and how we feel, we are able to make better choices and be more connected with our feelings and behaviours.
For one of the activities, we created our own Personality Islands. Just like Riley (from Inside Out), we all hold different islands of personality in our brains. These islands are created from our past memories, emotions, life experiences and passions. We discussed and shared our islands with each other and realised that we had some similarities but also differences with each other because we are all unique and that is what makes us, us.
