Spring 2 Week 1
It has been so lovely to welcome the Owls back to school this week!
We began our new topic 'Around the World'! We used Google Earth to 'zoom in' and find our continent, country and town, including finding school! We read Martha Maps it Out, and spoke about how maps show us a bird's eye view of different places.
For our writing this week, we made passports! Over the course of this term, we are going to 'travel' each week to a different country and learn about it, and of course to do so we need a passport! We learnt what a passport was nad why they are needed. We then made our own, drawing a picture of ourselves and writing our name, age and country of birth using the sentence starters 'My name is', 'I am' and 'I live in'.
In maths, we recapped our numbers to 10 by solving some missing number problems and practising our number formation.
The highlight of this week was our trip today. The Owls blew me away with their outstanding behaviour, enthusiasm and perseverence! They walked all around the Cotswold Wildlife Park, learning about different the animals. We had a truley amazing day. We saw lions, giraffes, meerkats, penguins, giant tortoises, a white rhino, and many more! Please enjoy the pictures below.
A few reminders:
- PE this term will be on Mondays and Fridays.
- We are starting Welly Walks again this term - these will be on Fridays.
- Please remember if reading books are not returned we cannot give out more until the prvious books (Specifically the SoundsWrite decodable books) are given back.
- Please try to avoid sending your child in with toys from home. Toys are not allowed in school as they can get lost or broken and so it is best to keep them safe at home please!
Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week when we start our travels by visiting Brazil!
