Summer 2 Week 5
This week we read Jack and the Beanstalk! We found a 'real' beanstalk had grown down from a cloud into our classroom and left us with our very own magic beans! We made predictions about what our beans might grow into. We had some very creative ideas! We wrote about our beans growing into dinosaurs, rainbows and even giants!
The children made swirly beanstalks using paper plates to challenge their cutting skills on the making table and built beanstalks to reach the clouds using lego and duplo.
In maths we began learning about subtraction! We learnt the different words we can use (take away, subtract and minus) and used our playdoh to help us solve subtraction problems.
The highlight of this week was our class assembly! Well done to all of the Owls for their amazing assembly today. I was so proud of every single Owl for taking part and having a go. A big well done to our Star of the Week, Ethan! Ethan has wowed us all week with his super sentences every morning during EMT and for being so confident during our class assembly.
A reminder for next week:
- Wednesday is our 'Open Door' where parents are welcome into the classroom from 3:30 to look through their children's book and see their learning from this year. Wednesday is also our 'Gallery Night' where all the work from Art Week will be on display in our very own By Brook Valley Gallery in the hall!
- Thursday and Friday will be the first two days of 'Turnaround' where the children will spend the day in Year 1 with their new teacher Miss Hamilton! They will need dropping off and collecting from the year 1 door.
