Spring 1, week 5
What an exciting week in Owls!
Owls were very lucky to have two superheroes in school this week. Edith's Auntie visited us to talk about her job as a vet. We learnt all about how animals are looked after when they are injured or poorly. The owls were great at bandaging the toy animals' legs. On the same day, Edith's Mummy told us all about her job as a flight attendant. Owls took part in the safety demonstration and even served snacks on our flight to Florida! We are very grateful for the interactive experiences that complimented our topic and really inspired the children.
We read the book Somebody Swallowed Stanley this week and considered the impact that rubbish has on sea creatures. Owls wrote sentences about what we should do with litter.
In maths this week, we compared objects using the words long, short, longest and shortest. Owls use non-standard units to measure a variety of objects inside and out.
Owls have loved being bird watchers this week. On our wellie walk we looked for different birds and tried to tick off as many as we could on our spotter sheets.
