Autumn Term 2 Week 1
Welcome back Falcons!
We have had a busy first four days back in Falcons!
The children have started a new writing focus. We have been exploring instructions! We started off by writing about how to put your coat on. The children practised following instructions from each other on how to do this and then had a go at writing them down! We also had a special letter arrive at our classroom door from Goldilocks! She needed Falcons help as she didn't know how to make a jam sandwich. The children practised giving Mrs Tyler instructions on how to make a jam sandwich, and we realised that there are more steps than we thought! The children also got a chance to make their own jam sandwiches to help understand the steps involved for when they write them. We explored time conjunctions and practised using them at the start of each step of our instructions too!
In PSHE, we spoke about our new topic of celebrating differences! The children played a game where they had to swap places with someone who was similar to them. We noticed that not everybody is the same and that is ok. Each child made their own gingerbread man to represent themselves and wrote on the T-shirt, three ways that they are different to their partner. These are displayed in our classroom to remind us that we are all different, but we all fit into our class family.
We had an exciting visitor on Thursday from a double mini trampolinist world champion, Kirsty Way. She was very inspiring as she showed us how she did her sport and even her medals! She then led the children on the circuits which everybody had been sponsored for! We raised a total of £883! Well done everyone!
In maths, we continued exploring number bonds! The children investigated practically by drawing around numicon and finding the bonds in a certain number. They then wrote out number sentences for this to relate to.
Next week is anti-bullying week!
Have a lovely weekend.
