Spring Term 1 Week 1
First week back!
Welcome back Falcons! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and a happy New Year! It has been great to hear about what all the children got up to over the break!
In English this week, we wrote recounts of our Christmas holidays. We wrote about our Christmas dinner and what our favourite presents were! We also practised our days of the week and had a go at writing sentences with them.
In Phonics this week we have started learning the different ways to spell the /ow/ sound!
Our new topic in maths is geometry! This week we have explored 3D shapes and how we could sort them into groups.
The children have had so much fun in our new role-playing area, which is to link with our new History topic: The Victorians! This week we discovered what life was like in the Victorian times, and we made mind maps of everything that we already know, as well as what we are looking forward to finding out! We were surprised at the difference in schools compared to now!
Our PSHE topic is dreams and goals. The children made their own dream box where they wrote down something that they wished to achieve in the future.
In RE, we spoke about what it means to be a good friend and how we show this. The children wrote down examples of how they are good friends on a hand which they were able to decorate too.
We were really lucky to have a friendship workshop with the school nurses this week! The children got to play friendship bingo where they had to speak to their peers about what they like to do and tick it off their sheets! They also taught us all about being a good friend, and we spoke about what we liked about everyone in the class!
Thank you for a great first week back!
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Hamilton :)
