Spring Term 1 Week 5 and 6
Children's Mental Health Week and Art!
Week 5 was Children's Mental Health Week! In Falcons, we enjoyed experiencing and discussing different ways to look after our minds.
The children did mindful colouring, yoga, wrote about what makes us happy, as well as had a dance party to release endorphins!
In maths, we were exploring different ways to make 20 by using number bonds. The children used numicon and number lines to help them. We also learnt about doubles! The children worked out how to double certain numbers by using unifex and mirrors!
We had lots of fun experimenting with different painting techniques. The children moved around tables to try out painting different ways, such as using sponges to dab, scraping with spatulas and dotting with paintbrushes. They had lots of fun experimenting in preparation for their seascape inspired by Monet. Each child used different painting techniques to create their own unique painting. They all looked fabulous!
The children completed their fact files about Queen Victoria. They wrote facts under subheadings such as: Her Life, Family and a Fun Fact! They worked well to categorise facts beforehand to use for their final writing piece.
PE will be basketball and multi-sports on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Spring Term 2.
I hope you all had a lovely rest over the half-term!
