Spring Term 2 Weeks 1 and 2
Bristol Zoo Project and World Book Week!
In our first week back we enjoyed talking and writing about our half-term! The children got to discuss what they got up to and what their favourite part was. They then wrote a recount of this in their English books, along with a lovely picture to match.
In music, we are exploring fairytales. The children thought about how we can give different characters voices. They then performed the three little pigs in groups and used their different voices for the characters. We also thought about how else we can create emotions without using our voices. We decided we could use instruments!
In DT this term we are experiencing a cooking and nutrition topic, where eventually the children will be designing and making their own smoothies! The past two weeks have consisted of looking at different fruits and vegetables. We have discussed that fruits have seeds and vegetables don't. We also found out where fruits and vegetables grow.
We ended our first week back with a trip to Bristol Zoo Project with Year 2 and Reception. We had such a fun time seeing all the animals. One of our favourites was the Red Pandas! The children behaved amazingly! Thank you to our parent helpers for joining us as well!
We also had World Book Week!
We have enjoyed a busy week, full of fun activities promoting reading throughout the school.
We enjoyed stories by different class teachers as well as a couple surprise readers who we didn't know about until they arrived!
In class, we have been creating book covers of our favourite books, making bookmarks, having puppet shows as well as reading our favourite class books to each other!
We also got a special workshop based on the book Rainbow Fish as well as enjoying getting to read with our reading buddies and showing off our costumes to one another.
Thank you for another great first two weeks back, Falcons!
Next week we will be having a visitor to talk to the children all about the Victorians!
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Hamilton :)
