Spring Term 2 Week 3

A Victorian Visit!

We were very lucky in Falcons to have a special visit from a Victorian teacher! She came from Sevington school to speak to us all about what life was like for children at school in the Victorian times! She showed us what they used to wear, what they used to write, what punishments they would get as well as answering lots of the children's eager questions! The children were fascinated and loved experiencing what it would have been like if they lived over 100 years ago!

Sevington School offers open days for children to visit the school and see what the classrooms were like as well as enjoy the experience too. I have attached a link if you are interested in seeing when these are!

In RE, we are learning all things Easter! To carry on from our lesson about the Easter story, this week we learnt about Holy Week. The children split into groups and acted out an event from Holy Week, then we performed them all as a class. They worked together to make their props and practise their acting. They were great!

In DT, this week we practised our preparation of food skills. This is to lead up to us eventually making our own smoothies! The children got to practise their cutting and juicing skills. They cut up some banana, rhubarb and grapes and juiced some oranges, lemons and grapefruit. The children also had a chance to taste the juice they had squeezed and eat the fruit too!

In maths, we finished our addition and subtraction within 20 unit by working out how to find the difference between two numbers. We noticed that we can do this by subtracting! The children practised finding the difference between numbers in partners and used certain manipulatives to help them!

Finally, to go alongside our DT topic, in PSHE, we are learning all about how to stay healthy! The children discussed what it means to be healthy and how we can do this. They then created posters on the different strategies to stay healthy and presented them to others in the class.

Thank you for another great week Falcons!

Have a lovely weekend.
