Spring Term 2 Week 4
Maths Day and Comic Relief!
It has been a sunny and busy week for Falcons, and we have enjoyed making the most of it! We had a chance to do our quiet reading time in our outside area. The children enjoyed being able to read in a different environment!
In computing this week, we started our Data and information topic by exploring why we label things and how we might group things. The children found labels around the classroom and then had to group objects into things we play with, work with and eat.
In History, the children were introduced to Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They learnt about why he is so famous and explored different ways of showing his history. This involved role-playing train stations, building bridges in our construction area, drawing bridges, creating fact files, as well as writing about Brunel in their history books.
In English, the children planned and wrote a responding letter to the Easter Bunny! They included answers to questions as well as something they wished to know about them!
We had a visit from our first Enterprise programme. We learnt about different skills needed in jobs and about networking. We all created our own networking cards and then 'networked' with each other, making sure we had a smile on our faces and clear voices when talking. We are excited about our next session in June and the skills we will learn! They gave us a challenge to 'turn honey into money', so keep an eye out for more information regarding this, after the Easter holidays.
In DT, we tested different fruit combinations to see what tastes nice together and what we will want to use when we make our smoothies next week! The children enjoyed trying fruits they may not have tried before, such as avocado!
We enjoyed Maths Day and Red Nose Day!
We started off our morning with some fun maths challenges. These included drawing Yatton Keynell church using 2D shapes, creating their own maths game as well as playing the game 'Beetle'!
That afternoon, we enjoyed different comic relief activities. The children were able to decorate a red-nose day biscuit, create their own red nose and make superhero masks. We had lots of fun!
A reminder that next Tuesday, the children will be taking their class photos!
We have been so busy that we haven't had time to fit celebration assembly in for the past few weeks! We will be having a celebration assembly on Monday!
Thank you for another great week Falcons. Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Hamilton :)
