Spring Term 2 Weeks 5 and 6

Smoothies and Last week before Easter!

We have really enjoyed learning about fruits and vegetables in Falcons. We have learnt about what separates fruits and vegetables, where they grow, what they taste like, as well as coming up with our own combinations to make our smoothies! In groups, the children cut up fruit, spooned yoghurt, poured juice and blended their own smoothies! We made three types: strawberry and banana, strawberry and pineapple as well as pineapple and banana. Then, we took the smoothies on to the field and got to try them whilst sitting in lovely weather. This was a great treat after all of their hard work!

In English, the children finished writing their acrostic poems which they presented at their fabulous Easter service, which they all spoke and sang amazingly in. This week, we have been writing instructions on how to make smoothies! They used their knowledge from their own experiences to help them with the sequence. We made sure to vary our verbs and adjectives to make our writing more interesting.

In maths, we have ended our place value within 50 unit by grouping numbers into tens, partitioning tens and ones using concrete materials as well as recapping one more and one less. The children worked really well with each other and demonstrated their learning confidently.

In RE, we spoke about the significance of Hot Cross Buns at Easter time. The children had a chance to try different types of hot cross buns and then write about them in their books.

We will be starting our Forest School sessions in the second week back from Easter!

The children should have brought home our class celebration newsletter for Spring Term, explaining all the wonderful things the children have done this term, along with some important information for next term. If you would like to see it online, it is attached in the class letters section.

PE days will be Tuesday and Wednesday after Easter.

I hope you all have a lovely break.

Miss Hamilton :)
