Summer 2 Week 2

It's been another busy week in Ospreys and the children have all been working hard.

In English, we have been continuing with learning about newspaper reports and planning our own report to write based on our class book The Iron Man. This week we have been journalists and had an opportunity to interview 'Hogarth' and 'Farmer Jones'.

In Maths this week we have been learning about money. We have been looking at the different coins in our currency and how to convert them from pounds to pence and adding and subtracting money. On Friday, we were able to buy items from a shop and calculate the change we had from £10.

We have been learning about the impact Alfred the Great had on Britain in History, including how he built 'burhs' and encouraged people to learn.

In PSHE, we have been discussing different relationships we have and how we can appreciate our friends, family and people we don't know. We have also considered what we want and need and listened to stories about children who are more deprived than us.

Star of the week this week is Richie. Richie has had a great positive attitude to learning this week. Well done Richie.

Reminders

It is sports day on Monday. Please can children wear a t-shirt for the colour of their house.

It is linger and learn on Tuesday morning at 9am. It will be great to see lots of parents there.

Finally it is the colour run on Friday. Details are in the newsletter and notice in the classroom window. If children are happy to have coloured powder thrown at them, they should wear a white t-shirt. If they do not, then please ensure that children wear a coloured t-shirt.

Please can children read 5x a week as part of home learning. They earn house points for reading 5 times and their name is then put into a draw to win a book voucher.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Miss Boddy :)
