Sports Funding
PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS FUNDING
At By Brook Valley School, we recognise the importance of Physical Education (PE) in helping to ensure good health and the well-being of our children. We believe that a varied PE curriculum and the provision of extra-curricular opportunities can have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.
The Primary School Sports Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports professionals to work alongside and develop skills in our teachers, by providing opportunities for all Key stage 1 and 2 pupils to take part in competitive sports competitions and increasing participation in sport.
What is the purpose of Primary School Sports Funding?
The government announced that they would be spending over £450 million on improving PE and sport provision in Primary Schools over the 3 academic years 2013 to 2014, 2014 to 2015 and 2015 to 2016. They have since increased the budget and continue to support this programme, so far up until the 2019-20 academic year.
This funding is allocated directly to schools to enable them to raise the standards of PE provision and to help pupils achieve sporting success.
